Marks & Spencer has poached a top executive at Dixons Carphone to become its new finance chief.
The appointment of Humphrey Singer, first reported by Sky News, was announced less than 24 hours before M&S updates the City on its Christmas trading performance.
Mr Singer, who has been with Dixons since 2007, served as group finance director of Dixons Carphone since the company was created in a merger with Carphone Warehouse in 2014.
He will replace Helen Weir, who is due to leave M&S on 31 March.
M&S chief executive Steve Rowe said: “Humphrey will be a great addition to the top team.
“His experience as part of the team that led Dixons through its period of change and migration to multi-channel retailer is most relevant to what we are undertaking here.”
